Pasir Gudang, 25 October 2014 - Sime Darby Property today launched the latest phase of its affordable housing programme in Johor Bahru. The 733 units of double storey terrace houses and 171 units of single storey shoplots in the Sime Darby Business Park, Taman Pasir Putih (TPP) in Pasir Gudang, will be constructed as part of Rumah Mampu Milik Johor (RMMJ), the state’s public housing scheme.
The launch was officiated by Johor Chief Minister, YAB Dato’ Mohamed Khaled Nordin, joined by YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh, President & Group Chief Executive of Sime Darby.
Tan Sri Mohd Bakke told the media at the launch, “I am pleased to say that Taman Pasir Putih has been a classic turnaround project. Sime Darby Property has indeed put in a lot of effort in transforming this area into a vibrant housing and industrial centre with the strong support of the Johor state government. This project indirectly demonstrates the level and quality of the Johor State authorities and administration, which has proven to be overall in governance and in transformational mode.”
“The Sime Darby Business Park in Taman Pasir Putih is one of the best planned industrial development in the country in terms of design, infrastructure and facilities. This has been the outcome of the collaboration between the Sime Darby Property team and the state government particularly in the planning, design and approval of developing the land.”
Out of the 733 units of double storey terrace houses and 171 units of single storey shoplots, Sime Darby Property is already developing the first phase of development of 184 affordable homes and 108 shoplots. The company will further construct another 549 houses and 63 shoplots by 2018, subject to market demand. The project is part of Sime Darby Property’s corporate responsibility efforts to assist the government, the rakyat and small business owners in developing businesses and industrial areas. This will facilitate trade, as well as create job opportunities and economic advancement to the surrounding communities and the state.
Under Sime Darby Property’s Affordable Housing Programme, the company has also collaborated with authorities to deliver Federal and State owned programmes. It has developed affordable housing for the last 40 years as part of its nation building efforts.
Both the ‘Sime Darby Affordable Housing Programme’ and the RMMJ programmes were conceptualised, to provide more Malaysians as well as Johoreans access to good quality houses at affordable prices in order to achieve the overriding goal of providing middle to low income families with the opportunity to own their own homes in urban and sub-urban residential areas.
“The launch of these units is a reflection of Sime Darby Property’s commitment to develop homes which not only offer quality, security and convenience similar to all the properties we develop, but also provide the majority of Malaysians the opportunity to own homes closer to their places of work and commercial centres such as the Sime Darby Business Park here in Taman Pasir Putih,” Tan Sri Mohd Bakke added.
In Johor, over 37,000 homes will be developed under the RMMJ programme, reflecting the high demand for affordable homes in the State. Sime Darby Property is strongly supporting and complementing the state government’s effort, working hand-in-hand to provide these accommodations to the rakyat of Johor.
In order to qualify, buyers must have a household income of under RM5,000 and the affordable units cost between RM150,000 each for the double storey terrace houses and RM200,000 for the single storey shoplots. Qualified buyers who are interested may visit
