Sime Darby Property MD Named Real Estate Personality of the Year at SEAPA Malaysia 2014

Kuala Lumpur, 27 August 2014 - Sime Darby Property Berhad today announced that Managing Director Dato’ Seri Abd Wahab Maskan was chosen as Malaysia’s Real Estate Personality of the Year at the South East Asia Property Awards (SEAPA) 2014 taking place for the first time in the country.

The country level awards will see winners from other parts of Southeast Asia vying for the regional titles later this year in Singapore. First held in Thailand in 2005, the SEAPA has since extended its scale to recognise the calibre of developments and achievements of developers, consultants, architects and designers in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and China.

Dato’ Seri Wahab has been at the helm of Sime Darby Property since June 2011. He is also the Group Chief Operating Officer of the Sime Darby Group.

With a solid track record of developing as well as turning around property companies, Dato’ Seri Wahab’s visionary leadership and strategic planning are visible in projects in the developer’s landmark townships such as Subang Jaya, Bandar Kinrara, Nilai Impian, Bukit Jelutong, Ara Damansara, Oasis Ara Damansara, City of Elmina, Bandar Universiti Pagoh, Bandar Universiti Serinia City, Bandar Ainsdale, Bandar Bukit Raja and the 37,000 acres Sime Darby Vision Valley (SDVV) master plan.

In addition, Sime Darby Property also received the Best Residential Interior Design and the Best Mid-Range Condo Development (Central Malaysia) awards for The Véo. The development has been making waves in the property industry since its launch as the inaugural freehold luxury residential towers of KL EAST, where liveability in the city is emphasized. The 30-storey residential development with 175 condominiums in each tower offers a variety of stylish designs.

Among The Véo’s uniqueness are its breathtaking views; one is of the world’s longest quartz ridge, Klang Gates, and the other of the panoramic city skyline.

All awards in the SEAPA were decided by a panel of independent judges, while ‘Real Estate Personality of the Year’ was selected by the editorial team of the Property Report, based on the vast experience and excellent contribution in the property industry.

The SEAPA is renowned for having a fully audited judging system and places Asia’s real estate industry on the international stage.
