12 June 2009 -?The prestigious Maybank Malaysian Open 2010 will be held at the newly renovated West Course of the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) in February. The date is yet to be confirmed.
Co-sanctioned by the European and Asian Tours, the 49th edition will feature top players in the 156-player field with vital points on offer for the Race to Dubai, which provides the top-60 ranked players the chance to compete for the US$10 million prize fund at the season-ender Dubai World Championship.
The West Course was designed by Ted Parsiow and it went through a comprehensive renovation and remodeling works after it hosted the Open in 2006. The refurbishments have certainly added more bite to the layout from the one which Charlie Wi subdued two years ago. > MAYBANK MALAYSIAN OPEN
For the Open, the course which is playing longer now, is expected to offer an entertaining challenge more undulations and sand traps and the rough grown to 75 mm long.
Tan Sri Mohamed Basir Ahmad, Chairman of Maybank, the Title Sponsor of the Maybank Malaysian Open 2010 said, The KLGCC has produced many great moments for the Open. Its return to KLGCC next year will increase the level of competitiveness as golfers will compete against the new course as well as a more determined field of golfers vying for the title.
The upgraded course will give golfers a new experience as they adapt to the unique challenges and we can expect another round of excitement and surprises in the 2010 Open.
