8 March 2013 - Sime Darby Property, together with Sime Darby Plantation and Yayasan Sime Darby had launched the Sime Darby Plantation Housing Scheme, a new housing benefit for current and retired Malaysian plantation workers in Carey Island, Selangor.
This housing scheme is part of Sime Darby’s corporate social responsibility program to improve on the living standards of plantation workers in the estates and supports the Government’s initiative to provide low and medium income earners with better access to affordable homes.
The launch was officiated by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak in a ceremony held in Carey Island, Selangor on 8 March 2013.
As the project developer, Sime Darby Property will build 400 units of single-storey homes. The 800sq ft homes will be built with 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom complete with tiled flooring. The development will include commercial lots to house the Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia and Klinik 1Malaysia and will also include a multipurpose hall and a sports complex.
The Sime Darby Plantation Housing Scheme is one of the housing schemes that has developed under the Sime Darby flagship. The Sime Darby Employee Residence Scheme Initiative or SERASI was introduced in 2012 for employees to buy houses in selected Sime Darby Property townships at an affordable price.
SERASI comes under Sime Darby Property's QASEH scheme, which is similar to the Government's PR1MA (Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia) initiative, with differences in eligibility criteria, property price and specifications.
