SINGAPORE, 22 October 2008 - Sime Darby Property had an exclusive corporate tour and briefing on its investments in Singapore last October. The tour was also organised to give members of the Malaysian and Singaporean media a better overview of Sime Darby Property’s on-going and upcoming projects in Singapore, as well as its strategy for the international market.
The main objective of the special briefing and tour was to showcase that in Singapore alone, Sime Darby Property is involved several cutting-edge developments that encompass the residential, commercial and industrial property sectors, and has made significant strides and set new benchmarks in the island republic.
Other than the briefing, Sime Darby Property also launched the new identity of the Performance Centre at 315, Alexandra Road, Singapore on the same day. The launch was officiated by Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zubir Murshid, CEO-Sime Darby Berhad.
During the briefing, Dato’ Tunku Putra Badlishah told the Malaysian and Singaporean reporters that besides Malaysia, Singapore, which is the second biggest market for the developer, will also offer opportunities despite the current lackluster property market.
Last year, the Singapore business contributed 15% to the developer’s bottom line while Malaysia’s operations accounted for 80% contribution. Among its successful projects in Singapore include the Orion, Balmoral Hills and the Sime Darby Enterprise Centre.
“The company would also take a cautious stance on new property launches due to the slower demand.” he said.
